We are elated about the year we have ahead and believe with all our hearts that God is with us and desires for us to flourish in 2021! We are poised and ready for whatever God has planned and want to partner with Him in every way possible. It’s with this in mind that we want to invite you into the life-changing pursuit of Scripture memory. We believe God finds tremendous delight when His daughters’ band together to memorize His Word. Will you join us this year and be a part of the S+C Scripture Memory Challenge?
We Need Each Other
If there is one thing I’ve learned from the past year, it’s that I need like-minded women in my life that are moving in the same direction. Having the regular encouragement of others, cheering us on, and urging us toward the goal is key. And for this Scripture Memory Challenge having others who are committed to the same goal and walking alongside you will help you to stay the course and finish strong.
24 Verses
The goal for this challenge is to memorize 24 verses systematically in 12 months. This is a very doable pace: 1 verse every 2 weeks. Every two weeks you get to choose your own verse. This way whatever season of life you are in you can be memorizing a verse that is applicable to your current circumstance. You really can do this. So many of you will surprise yourselves with what you’re capable of doing in the power of the Spirit. Yes, it takes work but it’s tremendously fulfilling and the results are nearly immeasurable. Look at it this way: we’re going to be meditating on something: unforgiveness, toxic memories, misery, lust, greed, dissatisfaction, jealousy, competition. Let’s choose Scripture instead!
On the 1st and 15th of every month of 2021 starting on New Year’s Day, you will find a Salt+Clay Instagram post by 8:00 am in the morning asking you to share your memory verse. We will also be suggesting one if you’re drawing a blank, and encouraging you in your process. Once a month we will also be doing an Instagram Live with one of our S+C family or other guest and have them share the verse they’ve selected, and why they chose it to inspire and encourage you along the way.
Whether consistent in this endeavor or sporadic I can testify that this discipline has dramatically changed my walk with Jesus. I have seen some real victories in many different areas in my life, especially as it relates to worry, fear, and anxiety. By having the truth of God’s Word at the ready when the storms of life come, I’ve been able to tear down the lies of the enemy and put up the promises of God and then believe that He is faithful. I can tell you that although this year has had its fair share of uncertainty, doubt, and discouragement, God’s Word has been my anchor. Christ Himself said as a man thinks, so is he. He also said His words are spirit and life. This is work worth doing, Beloved. Never – NOT ONCE – have I ever known anyone to get to the end of a Scripture memory commitment and say that it didn’t make any real difference. Not a single time.
Will You Join Us?
So as you look forward to this upcoming year with Jesus would you consider joining in on our S+C Scripture Memory Challenge? There is no pressure, no one checking up on you, just encouragement and the mutual camaraderie of those pursuing the same goal. I suggest you pick up either some 3 x 5 notecards (I think the spiral-bound type works best) or another style. Then you can write down your verse every two weeks and take them wherever you go, in the morning when you’re getting ready, by the sink in the kitchen, or in the car.
Taking New Ground
I hope and pray that this next year becomes the year that changed your life. That you take new ground for the kingdom, move fully into the calling God has for you, overcome long-standing obstacles in God’s power and see walls of opposition come tumbling down for His glory! This is our turn girls. This is our year to press into all that God has for us.
As you look forward to this next year with Jesus, determining in your heart to fight this good fight of faith in the strength and power of God’s Spirit. Remember that you are dearly loved, and His name is on you, you are His! And He desires to make you into a mighty woman of God as you yield to His authority so that you can live that victorious, fruit-bearing, abundant life, full of joy and peace no matter the circumstances.
Thank you for the privilege to serve you and to embark on another wild journey together. May Christ find such delight here that He astonishes us with His presence, favor, and power.
