Ok, is it just me, or did the last two weeks fly by? Can you believe we are on verse 8? I hope and pray that you are being strengthened and encouraged by God through the power of His Spirit as you are seeking to tuck His Word into your heart. Stay with it!
I hope and pray you will continue to have a “take no prisoners” attitude toward your memory work. I was reading in Philippians 3:12-14 this week and was encouraged by Paul’s ruthless, uncompromising pursuit of his objective to “press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.”
I keep thinking about the word “that,” what is the “that” for which Christ took hold of us? I believe that when Christ laid hold of us, it was to bring us into a restored relationship with the Father, a hope of eternity with Him, and for us to enjoy all of the spiritual blessings in Christ that He lavished on us! Not only for eternity, but I am convinced God has a life that is so much bigger than what we might be living right now; at least, this is true for me.
God’s word tells us that we can have a life of power (Ep.3:18), victory (1 Cor.15:57), equipping (2 Tim.3:17), hope and security (Heb.6:19), fruitfulness (John 15:16), wisdom and revelation (Ep.1:17), I could go on and on.
My constant prayer as of late is that I would walk fully in the abundant life God has for me and that I would have a relentless pursuit of Him that cannot be contained!
It is a beautiful thought that Christ has taken hold of us. His grip is steady, resolute, and steadfast. He has not had a second thought about His decision to take hold of you; He is undaunted by whatever weakness or failings you might have. It hasn’t changed His mind about you. As Christ has taken hold of you and continues to keep you in His grip, hold onto Him with a committed resolve.
Don’t lose sight of the goal. Keep running the race, keeping your eye toward heaven. The fitter we grow for heaven, the faster we must press towards it. Like the archer having her eye fixed on the mark, she designs to hit. May God quicken every step we take.
