As you look at your life right now, do you believe you are exactly where God has you? Has He given you a specific task to do? A ministry? Has He confirmed it within your spirit?
If this is true of you, then my hope today is to send along a little encouragement for your soul, that the Lord has recently given to me. Because if we are standing, walking, and serving in the places that He has ordained for us, then most likely along the way, at some point discouragement could set in. This could come from fear, insecurity, doubt, or just plain exhaustion.
Over the last few days I’ve been reading in 2 Corinthians 4:1-13, and verse 13 specifically spoke to me: “It is written: ‘I believed; therefore I have spoken.’ Since we have that same spirit of faith we also believe and therefore speak.”
We also believe and therefore speak.
I think there is something in this phrase for us to take notice of. I actually think it may be a strategy for victory in our places of promise, in the calling, He has given us. It touches on this idea of practicing Biblical authority. One of the most powerful pieces of equipment God has given us is our tongue. I’m sure we can all agree to its power. Especially when we see its effect in negative ways.
But what if we turned it around? What if we stopped misusing our tongue and submitted it to the authority of Christ and let Him release a powerful voice to us…using HIS WORD? I think there is something powerful about the spoken word, and particularly in the spiritual realm. The enemy cannot read your thoughts, but he can hear your voice. What is he hearing coming out of our mouths? Is it doubt? Fear? Discouragement? Or is it confidence in who God is, what He can do, and who we are in Him?
Not only is putting God’s Word to memory a sure way to give us victory in our thought life. But what if we started SPEAKING it? If we started praying His Word out loud? I think that’s like putting two sticks of dynamite together, and then, watch out! Getting God’s Word in our mouths will make us armed and dangerous to the kingdom of darkness, and then we are going to make the enemy sorry he messed with us. Remember it’s not the enemy’s right to make us lose heart, but we are cooperating with him when we are losing heart.
God is calling us to live out our right to victory, so we need to stop living in defeat. God reminded me recently that I am not the one person that His Word has no effect over. God says his Word is like fire (Jer.23:29) and as His Word renews our minds, the inextinguishable flame of His resurrection life will burn within.
As we daily submit to the authority of Christ, living out the crucified life in the power of the Spirit, His life will take over (2 Cor. 10). He takes our weaknesses, failures, and insecurity and exchanges them for His resurrection life and power. Deny authority over your own life so that He can pour out His life in you. Then walk in triumph in His divine power daily.
So girls, as you are memorizing those verses say them out loud. Turn them into prayers, believing that God’s Word is accomplishing all He is intending for your good and His glory. And when you say to that mountain “Move out of my way!” (Mark 11:23) it may just sound like your voice and not that powerful. But I can assure you when you speak HIS WORD it sounds just like God to the devil
Believe His Word, inhale it. Then, speak it, exhale. Repeat.
May His Word be life to us.
Keep up the good work girls, stick with it. If you’ve fallen a little behind remember today is a new day to begin again.
My verse for 3/1/2021
“David also said to Solomon his son, ‘Be strong and courageous and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the LORD is finished.” 1 Chronicles 28:20 NIV
